And Russia is Huge! Did you know Russia has 2/3 of the world’s fresh water, expands 9 nine time zones and has the largest resources of minerals including practically the only place titanium is found in the world? Lake Baikal is the largest and deepest fresh water lake in the world and is my dream trip. Now they are experiencing temperatures so high and over a duration not experienced in over 100 years.
I was there two years ago and I was floored by how green Moscow was and surrounded by incredible forest. In a few minute drive you can be out of the big city (which has tons of parks and green within it) and be driving through miles of forest and green green green. I was unduly impressed.
When a country this big is on fire, we all will be affected by the smoke it creates as it will affect the world. It’s interesting that a huge chunk of Greenland just fell off at the same time, but I guess we are just a part of the world’s cycle and this should be a message to all to enjoy the moment! Russia is a source for most of the amber that is found in peat bogs which are areas that preserved the amber for centuries. Amber is from the sap of trees and is released to protect the tree when fighting a disease and such a force of amber at one point could have only been released as there must have been some huge wipe out disease. Wooly Mammoth skeletons are being found more and more all over Russia as the ground melts, what happened to all those elephants at the same time? Makes you wonder where we will be tomorrow doesn’t it?
How else will we be affected? Well….does anyone remember Cherobyl? It was the worst radioactive catastrophe in the history of the world. It happened in 1986 when nuclear reactor #4 blew up and released 200 tons of radioactive waste which was equivalent to 20 nuclear bombs. 8.4 million people were exposed to radiation (U.N. Commision Reports). Everything was contaminated, grass, trees, people, and it still is! This stuff doesn’t go away and it gets worse for people every summer as when the temperature rises the radioactive elements become more active and that’s just a normal summer without this intense heat and fire. There is a concern that these particles once burned will be released into the air and travel world wide and there are about a dozen fires burning in the area right now.
Just so you know over 800 interim makeshift storage sites are buried randomly around the Chernobyl Nuclear Reactor Site which contain 200 Billion lbs of radioactive waste.
An easy and good protective measure may just be for everyone to increase the amount of sea veggies in their diet as these weeds are said to absorb radiation in the body and may be why the Japanese people has less long term disease from the Nagasaki atomic bomb as this is widely in their diet. Eat more veggie rolls and sea veg salads.
