Native Foods Cafe
How about a little aperitif? As we continue our journey through France during our Free Vegan Cooking Demos at Native Foods Café this month, we find ourselves in a French café sipping something absolutely delicious… The Native 75, or French 75, is a cocktail made from Gin, Champagne, lemon juice and sugar. It was created in 1915 at the New York Bar in Paris, France, and we are recreating it here for you today.
Native 75 Mocktail
3 tsp organic cane sugar
12 dashes Orange Juice (substitute orange bitters* for a real cocktail.)
6 oz ginger ale (substitute gin for a real cocktail.)
1 bottle sparkling water (or chilled sparkling wine)
6 lemon wedges
6 orange twists
Mix the first 4 ingredients together gently so carbonation does not disappear, then portion into 6 glasses. Float a lemon wedge and an orange twist in each glass. I loves Native 75 Mocktails so much I finished it before the photo was taken!
*Bitters is an alcoholic beverage flavored with herbal essences and has a bittersweet essence good for digestion. Useing aromatic herbs, barks, roots, and/or fruit for their flavor, bitters stimulate the appetite before a meal and settles the stomach after.
