Moringa is a plant that is native to parts of Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America and Oceania. It’s been getting a lot of press lately. The ancient traditions in India believe that the leaves of this tree can prevent over 300 diseases and modern science agrees. Scientific research has actually proven that the leaves are, in fact, a powerhouse of nutritional value.

As you can see the the nutritional value is truly off the charts! These leaves contain 7 times more Vitamin C than an orange, 4 times as much Vitamin A as a carrot, 3 times more potassium than a banana, 3 times more iron than spinach and 3 times more Vitamin E than almonds. That’s impressive!! Now what does this mean for world wide nutrition? The next step researchers are taking is studying this plant for a possible cure for malnutrition, disease prevention and live-stock feed.

The most astounding fact about the Moringa tree is the nutritional value one could add to their diet, but not just us humans, but this could greatly enhance the diets of farm animals around the world. Even though most of the plant is edible one should stick to eating the fruit, seeds and leaves. The root and its extracts are still in the research phase.
As if the nutritional benefits weren’t reason enough to take notice, this tree also packs a medicinal punch.

Now where can you get in on some of this Moringa action? You can find Moringa tea, capsules, powder and seeds at most health food store now. I also recently ordered some tea and powder from this online supplier, http://moringafarms.com/,to see what the hype on Moringa is all about. If I like it, they sell the whole plants too. I will let you all know soon!
